Dave Coughlin is an accomplished rock drummer heavily rooted in the Michigan music scene, currently keeping time as the powerhouse behind the iconic alternative rock band Sponge. He officially stepped into the Sponge lineup in June 2021, bringing his hard-hitting, energetic precision to classics like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" while consistently touring with the group. You can catch him on the upcoming fall 2026 Can't Quit You tour with Candlebox. Before locking in the groove for Sponge, Coughlin spent nearly a decade anchoring the driving rhythms of the prominent nu-metal/hard rock outfit Taproot. Joining them in August 2013. Dave balances his life as a touring musician with family life and running a business in his home state of Michigan.
